NORMALYSA Model Libraries
The NORMALYSA model libraries provide a series of environmental transport and exposure assessment models that are structured into five categories: Sources, Cover Layers, Transport, Receptors, and Doses. These models have been previously recommended and documented and have been utilized in safety assessments for radioactive waste disposal facilities by the Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Company (SKB), as well as generic models cited by the IAEA, such as those found in the IAEA SRS-19 report. These models are applicable for early-stage safety evaluations and for conservative analyses of radionuclide transport and dose assessment, including estimating upper bounds for radiological effects from contaminated land.
User Manual
-
NORMALYSA ‘Sources’ libraryThe ‘Sources’ library includes modules for calculation of radionuclides releases to air, surface waters and groundwater from the contaminated object (source-term) such as uranium mill tailings or radioactively contaminated land.
FREE -
NORMALYSA ‘Cover layers’ libraryThe ‘Cover Layers’ library includes modules for simulating soil covers over the source in order to calculate resulting radon exhalation rate and concentration in air, as well as the external dose rate above the cover.
FREE -
NORMALYSA ‘Transports’ libraryThe ‘Transports’ library includes modules for calculation of the atmospheric, groundwater or surface runoff transport of radionuclides from the contamination source to different receptors.
FREE -
NORMALYSA ‘Receptors’ libraryThe ‘Receptors’ library includes modules for calculation of radionuclide transfer and redistribution process in different types of receptor environments.
FREE -
NORMALYSA ‘Doses’ libraryA set of modules for calculation of doses to humans based on the radionuclide concentrations in different environmental media simulated using the receptor modules.
