This is a simple model to illustrate the capability of AFRY Intelligent Scenario Modelling to be used to perform water balance calculations for the mining industry.

It represents an Open Pit mining operation (Open Pit Block), with a Reservior (Reservior Block) to manage water required for a Processing Plant (Processing Plant Block). Tailings material generated in the processing plant is disposed of at a Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) (Tailings Storage Facility Block). Excess water from the TSF is diverted back to the Reservior.

The External Water Source Block makes provision to divert water from an external water source to the Processing Plant if the internal water managed in the Reservior is insuffiicent.

Atmospheric balances due to rainfall and evaporation processes at the Open Pit, Reservior, processing Plant and TSF are controlled through the Atmospheric Input Data Block. Mining and processing plant related input data is controlled through the Mining Input Data Block and Processing Plant Input Data Block, respectively.
